What started as a small Japanese goods shop has grown into Seaside's go-to destination for flavors, snacks, and finds from across the entire continent.
Hayato started as a small Japanese goods shop when we first opened in October 2023 on Fremont Boulevard. But our customers taught us something beautiful: the Monterey Peninsula was hungry for all of Asia, not just one corner of it.
So we grew. Today, Hayato is a proudly pan-Asian market carrying snacks, drinks, noodles, pantry staples, and unique finds from Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and beyond. Our shelves tell a story of the whole continent.
We're a family-owned business, and that means every product on our shelves is something we've personally chosen — often something we grew up eating, drinking, or giving as gifts. When you walk in, you might discover a childhood favorite or fall in love with something entirely new.
More than a market, Hayato is a community gathering spot for curious foodies, homesick expats, anime fans, adventurous families, and anyone who believes a great snack can brighten your whole day. We're always adding new products, so there's something new to find every visit.
